Hi everyone!
I hope you're all having a good weekend so far?
This is going to be a bit of a negative post, it's not that often that I come across a product I really dislike or have major problems with but I am always honest with my opinions on products and unfortunately my opinion with this particular product isn't a positive one.

If you're a regular reader of my blog, you may have gathered from some of my skin care posts that I tend to suffer with blackheads and I am pretty self-concious about my pores on my cheeks.
I decided to purchase a cleanser by Bliss, I had used their Fabulous Foaming Face Wash before as part of one of my Feel Unique Beauty Boxes which I had got on great with. I wanted to buy something that was particularly aimed at clearing blackheads and helping to reduce the appearance of pores, I came across the No "Zit" Sherlock Purifying Cleanser & Toner which was described as 2 in 1 formula that deeply purifies and de-clogs pores whilst soothing and softening. The cleanser was also described as suitable for daily use so it seemed perfect to try.
Sounds a great product right?
I was so excited when I received this in the post and had to use it the next day. It had a very minty smell and cooling sensation to it when I used it, there were no issues after the first use. After the second or third time of use that's when my skin started to suffer.

Firstly my skin had become noticeably dry (I have normal/combination skin so I don't suffer with dry patches at all) especially around my cheeks which were also quite red and sore. When it came to putting my foundation on after moisturising, I had to remove it pretty much instantly because my cheeks were actually starting to burn (similar pain level when you're that little bit too sunburnt and it hurts to touch).
I decided to stop using this particular cleanser and decided not to wear any make-up on my face until my skin had calmed down a little. The following day my cheeks were still very red and pretty sore, even applying moisturiser was painful.
I switched to a gentle Clarins Cleanser so I could still clean my face properly and remove any "dirt" from the day/night. After around three to four days my cheeks finally stopped feeling so sensitive, but they felt incredibly dry and my skin was actually peeling on my cheeks, not only that my top lip had become extremely dry and was constantly splitting which involved regular if not constant use of carmex throughout the day. I did attempt foundation on my face again as well which only brought back the burning sensation and was equally as painful to remove.

After around a week of not using any make-up on my face I am FINALLY able to apply foundation etc. again without any burning sensation but my skin is still really dry, particularly around my cheeks. I also noticed this morning when I went to pluck my brows that my skin was extremely dry and peeling around that area too - I know...yuck!
To solve the lip problem I actually had to go to bed with sudocrem on my top lip as it looked as if I had a burn which is not nice at all. My lip is (finally) a lot better now and I don't have the annoyance of cringing with pain whenever I drink or eat something that has a lot of flavour to it.
Luckily after speaking to Debenhams this week they have reimbursed me the full amount I paid because of the reaction I had and also advised me to dispose of the product. Their customer service was brilliant and I'm relieved I was able to be given a refund as it's a bit gutting to spend money on something that you can't even use. I wasn't even expecting a full refund so the fact I've been given all of my money back is fantastic.
I'm not sure why my skin reacted this way but it definitely wasn't pleasant, I may have had an allergic reaction to the small amount of salicylic acid that this cleanser contains or whether the product itself was faulty I don't know. It just didn't agree with my skin at all, I don't have particularly sensitive skin so it was pretty shocking to have such a reaction to a product in such a short space of time.
I think I'll be sticking to my trusty Liz Earle and Clarins in future!
